Religion

Note: This poem is not written with an intention to hurt any emotions.
As soon as we are born,
We are conditioned to believe.
That God, the Almighty
Helps us in our grief.
He watches over us all
To see if we misbehave
Or abide by the 10 rules
That God's prophet gave.
We bathe before praying
To atone for our sins
And pray before meals
For gifts that nature brings
The fear of God
Protects us from crime
And has been effective
For a very long time
And now I appeal to you all
To stop and introspect
We refrain from all crime
Merely in his awe, his respect
We bend and twist religion
I ask you what for?
To justify our wrong actions?
To wage a holy war?
People killing their own brothers
Justifying it, in His name
All these fake Gurus
Getting undeserved fame
If God wanted something
Like a sinner to be dead
With Him being the Almighty
Trust me, that person is already dead
If He created the world
Trees, animals and Sun
Why would he want us to end it?
With missiles and guns.
Be it kascher, jhatka or halal
The truth isn't gonna bend
We just took a life.
The chicken dies in the end.
See the truth, You maniacs!
That all religions are the same
Violence is the universal enemy
No single one is to blame
No religion breeds violence
No religion breeds hatred
Religious fanatics for years have
Made many civilizations putrid
All rituals have a meaning,
The inner truth, we have to see
Not a means to bind people
But people's souls it should free
When the power of love overcomes,
The love for power
Only peace and truth
Will stand like a tower.
