Loving Union

I'm walking down this path,
Poetry written by Thou, my Lord.
And with every turn I take,
A new stanza of your song unfolds.
Every step I've taken till now,
Leads to an understanding so deep.
Wherever I am, wherever I go,
Your essence I lovingly keep.
I'm sailing down this river, my Lord,
May the scriptures sail me through.
So many lives I've been at sea
To get nearer to you.
Every shore I see on this voyage
Like flowers lay before Thee.
But the light I see beyond the horizon
That is what I truly seek.
Lives and centuries, night and day
Like the tides, they come and go.
How many boats have sailed on forth
But your river continues to flow.
When all will have been brought to dust
All names and forms shall cease.
You and I, together we'll be,
Like a dewdrop on a leaf.
—
Mighty like the Himalayas
Intransient like the sea
Sharper than any forged blade,
My Lord, I'd like to be.
Make me strong as an ox,
These chains let me break free.
Wise like the old seers of lore
My Lord, I'd like to be.
Purer than the Ganges,
May my words be spoken truly.
Innocent like a child, again
My Lord, I'd like to be.
Don't take me wrong, my Lord,
What use are these to me
If not to make myself
Worthy of serving Thee.
One thing my Lord, I beg, I pray
May my use never cease.
I am here to serve You, my Lord.
Use me as you please.
