Airplane Mode

Time to switch on airplane mode
Turn the phones away
No calls for the next few hours
This feeling's just great
The shackles start to come off
As the peace gently settles in
Everything stands still for the moment
Without any notifications meddling
Thoughts can finally soar now
As the clouds float below
Engines of creativity rumble on
As the ac gently blows
My mind goes back to the time
When these devices didn't exist
And this constant urge to swipe up and down
We all could resist
When you actually had to work hard
To get a dopamine fix
Before this disease infected human kind
This technology made us sick
How did we reach here?
Can we undo this mess?
Can we slow down this ticking time bomb
Of anxiety, loneliness and stress?
My thoughts get interrupted
By the sound of the tyres hitting the tarmac
Like violently been pulled out from a dream
The shackles start snapping back
The sound of notifications fill the air
Before the flight even comes to a stop
And we're back in this world of
fake news, constant urgency and AI slop.
And I pray I get to bathe in these waters
Before the memories fade away
Of no calls for the next few hours
That feeling was just great
